Adam is a well-known figure in the taiko community and has many decades of taiko experience to his name. In addition, he is a dedicated karate practitioner and has frequently contributed his time and expertise to the North American Taiko Conference. Join Mr. Tic Tac Taiko himself in these exclusive workshops, where he will share his knowledge on topics such as the naname playing style and “rhythm management.” The program details and registration options can be found below.

SATURDAY MAY 9th– RHYTHM MANAGEMENT (2 hours 15 minutes)

A workshop focusing on various rhythmic patterns (e.g. polyrhythms) and on maintaining awareness and presence in your playing.

SUNDAY MAY 10th – NANAMEXTRAVAGANZA (5 hours)

A full day of in-depth exploration of diagonal (naname) taiko playing. Adam will guide you from the basics to greater heights!
Important is that you bring your own bachi suited for the naname-style.

10:30 – 13:00 – first half of the workshop
13:00 – 13:45 – lunch break (bring your own lunch)
13:45 – 16:15 – second half of the workshop

House of Circles X Bontendus

Both performers are known from the group BONTEN 梵天 and are highly regarded guests within the global taiko community.

For the morning workshop, they will use elements from their original piece “Gaifu,” a version of which you can see below.

The afternoon workshop will remain a surprise for now, but it will certainly be challenging.

 

Taishi Yamabe

A contemporary taiko wunderkind with numerous collaborations, productions, and solo performances to his name.
As the producer of the Ise Taiko Festival 2025 and an incredibly driven taiko artist, we are eager to hear his insights on the Odaiko.
